At Harlow Brides, we allot an hour to 1 1/2 hours for your bridal appointment. This gives our brides plenty of time to try on a good number of dresses without feeling overwhelmed. We have, of course, been known to go over our appointment times when needed and when possible.
Shopping for your wedding dress should be a fun and exciting experience. While it might seem obvious to book back-to-back appointments at shops in the area, it can quickly make things very overwhelming and tiring. Trying on dresses for hours on end can get exhausting and confusing.
Bridal shops like Harlow Brides carry a curated selection of dresses from each designer in their collection. During a trunk show, a designer typically sends her entire collection to be in-store and offers them at a discount. If you know you love a specific designer, a trunk show is a perfect time to book your appointment! Make sure to do so in advance.
It’s helpful to bring a strapless bra, spanx, and some beautiful shoes to your appointment. You want to be able to envision yourself on your wedding day.
As fun as it sounds to bring all of your closest friends and family to come dress shopping with you, it can easily make finding “the one” more difficult. Bring the people who know you best and whose opinions you trust. They are the ones who know your personal style. Your dress should reflect you, not them. We recommend bringing 1-2 guests along with you. If you plan to bring more than 4 guests, please let us know in advance so we can make proper accommodations for your party.
Once you’ve found your gown, we will take your measurements and help you choose the best size to order, that is closest to your current measurements. Our designers make their dresses to an industry standard size chart. Since we are all shaped differently, alterations are always needed!
We accept two forms of payment: credit cards and cash. We require a
50% deposit to order your wedding gown and the remaining balance is due upon delivery of your gown at our boutique. Dresses sold “off the rack” or “samples” must
be paid in full. Please note that because of the custom nature of your ordered wedding dress, we do not allow refunds, cancellations, exchanges or returns once the order has been confirmed with the designer.
Alterations are not included in the price of your wedding dress. We can arrange alterations with our extremely experienced and talented in-house seamstress, Pamela Spears. Ultimately though, you choose where to have your alterations done.
We respectfully ask that you leave little children at home. As you can imagine, the white dresses and delicate items in our shop are easy targets for mishaps when kids are around. Children can also be very distracting to other brides in the boutique. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Often times brides think that they need to shop, shop, shop! But, you might be surprised to find out brides typically find the dress at their first appointment. Prepare to purchase. You’ve come with a goal to find your gown, you’ve set your budget, and you are getting married! Trust your first instincts—they are usually right.
